Did you ever notice that when you spell out Fourth And Town the initials spell FAT?
Now what marketing genius at Gap, Inc came up with that one for a store geared to women 35 and up?

Hi

I think the NewsPress brass have eliminated the paper's ability to handle governmental and political reporting.

It's been months since we've seen a carefully written story about the County Board, any of the City Councils, goings-on in the myriad County and municipal departments, etc.

The machinations of these governing bodies and administrative agencies are complex and often arcane. They're also very powerful influences on how, where, and what we do with our lives here in Santa Barbara County.

The Independent fulfills some of the need for this sort of reporting, but I sure miss a daily newspaper with credible governmental reporting.

It's too bad that the N-P and Travis have lost all credibility, because there ARE a number of issues going on in the City of Santa Barbara that warrant watchdogging----for instance, the comments on the poor traffic planning were RIGHT ON. Maybe the INDEPENDENT can start calling the City on some of its missteps.....
