Rob Lowe just helpin' out

With a few clever camera angles, both KEYT and KSBY TV news deliberately included Friend-of-Arnold and my-address-is-more-important-than-your-address Rob Lowe in the background when The Arnold visited the emergency session of the County Board of Supervisors today. The Governor of California made a point of praising the cooperation among fire protection agencies and personally approving the Emergency declaration that the County just requested.

Fair enough, and that is nice and all, but what was Lowe really doing there? He wasn't filling the pitchers with tap water so no one had to drink water from plastic bottles that would fill up Tajiguas landfill, was he?

Of course, maybe Lowe and Arnold were just on their way to the Chumash Casino or someplace nice like that? However, I simply cannot imagine that any local newspaper or TV news station actually would interview and quote Rob Lowe, as if he had anything relevant and credible to say about a raging wildfire breaking through its containment lines and possibly threatening the coastal cities.

Naaahhhh! No local newspaper would actually **interview** and **quote** ROB LOWE about the wildfire emergency when the room there was full of actual community leaders and emergency response professionals who actually might know what they were talking about, if only asked.

No respectable newspaper would do that, would it?

Does Citizen Stringer forget that Rob Lowe worked with me in the Bartlett Administration for many years? He gained quite a bit of experience in these matters...

It is nice to see these two cartoon characters, the sex machine and the terminator dude hogging the spotlight. Unless they are making sandwiches and pouring coffee for the firefighters I do not want to see those clowns during an emergency.

Well, did a local newspaper actually interview and quote the Gropenator's sex offender/waterboy about the wildfire emergency? I rarely read the printed press anymore so inquiring minds would like to know.

Also, I did see the KEYT broadcast last evening and there was mention that the Gropenator was in town visiting his friend Rob Lowe. I did not however see Lowe in the aired footage and they definelty did not interview or quote Lowe. If a local newspaper, say the News Press, is featuring Lowe as a spokesman then perhaps they are considering promoting their friend Rob for public office.

(this is how rumors get started)

Thanks for the laugh this morning. Although rather funny in the category of ridicuous, it is very strange that Lowe is there- why?

Sad, but not totally suprising, to learn there was a fatal shooting on state street last night down on nightclub row.

I'm no fan of Rob Lowe or his role a year ago in the NP meltdown, but I find this post rather breathless and silly, and with all due respect I think it lowers the IQ of related commentary.

Apparently no newspaper did find it appropriate to quote Lowe on wildlife emergencies or any other topic before the board (because if the NP had it would be all over every blog).

So why the breathless speculation that a newspaper might? You end up making yourself look silly while casting no further aspersions whatsoever on the NP.

So why was Lowe there? I don't know, and I don't care. He's a local resident and he can do what he likes. He may take an interest in wildfire management, as almost every property owner in California does.
Ignoring him is the best revenge. You've hardly done that.

speaking of keyt manipulating an angle, this piece is very irresponsible & in poor taste IMO- anyone with any knowledge about the backcountry knows what a difficult fire this is to fight

Someone needs to let Arnold know that we've banned bottled water. He needs to set a better example!

Wow, this post, and most of the blog comments, were obviously written by people who were no where near the scene when this happened....

Schwarzenneger happened to be in town visiting Lowe when the call went out [to Sacramento] to have the emergency declaration signed.];

the Guv said he'd stop by and sign in person. With his friend. Why not? They were in and out in minutes. People there were grateful to see them.

So what. Get over yourselves and stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Would someone please start a fire Web site on which people can share information.

It's obvious the News-Press is going to provide only minimal coverage.

And this fire is getting scary.

12:53 AM, For a fire coverage, check in regularly on edhat.com .

The leading story this morning is from the Santa Maria Times. Edhat aggregates all the local coverage, all, that is, except the News-Press which only is accessible to those who want to pay for it.
