Rest in Peace: Selmer Wake

Many of us honored and mourned the passing of Father Virgil Cordano at a funeral yesterday at the Santa Barbara Mission...and EdHat reports that SBCC Adult Education founder Selmer Wake passed away at 93. It is unfortunate he did not live to see the likely passage of Measure V in the next election. Best to his family during this difficult time.

Thank you so much for posting this. This man and his fervent support for SBCC Adult Ed in this community has given shape to our lives in this area more than Pearl Chase.

A yes vote on Measure V this Tuesday (The SBCC Improvement Measure) which insures the continuation of Schott and Wake Adult Ed learning centers for all of us is one of the best ways to show appreciation for this wonderful man.

Wonderful tribute to Sam Wake in the Independent. I hope everyone gets a chance to read it. He gave so much of his life to create the Adult Ed we now all take for granted. This one small man created a huge living legacy in this town.
