SBNP Smackdown Continues

A faithful reader has pointed out that McCaw ands Company are now suing fellow (sic) journalists at KESQ in Palm Springs American Journalism Review. Don't journalists have a code about this? Never, ever go outside the family with your dirty laundry....

Boy, McCaw's got what Stephen Colbert would call thatchers. While too many of the mainstream media outlets are covering Britney Spear's money shot (btw - where is her non-car seated child while she is processing her text message divorce?) or gingerbread Nazi's (does anyone have respect for the Judeo-Christian tradition anymore? especially during Hannukah?) -- Agnes Huff is earning her salary with an age-old adage in public relations. If you have bad news, give it during the holidays as nobody pays attention. Or will they?

The suit is against the American Journalism Review reporter, not KESQ, the Palm Springs ABC affiliate, as your link plainly notes.

I guess the Wendy code would be... report on anyone else except me and mine...if you do I'll sue. I don't see anything in this KESQ article liable or slanderous so on what basis is this suit?

The gingerbread Nazi's are cute. These intolerant days would bring a protest. Rumor is there is a war on Christmas. I think this artist work is really about exposing the real war which is the war on freedom perpretraded by Christmas Nazis.

The Xmas Nazis demand that we all not only tolerant superstition and irrational beleifs but demand a like response of Merry Christmas especially when I reply with Merry HannaKwanza...leaving out Christmas altogether.

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar

Ms. Wendy's defamation lawsuit against Susan Paterno at AJR is proof that McCaw reads these internet blogs. It is also more proof that she is in pure reactive doodoo-flinging mode.

It is no coincidence that the suit against Paterno was filed after a whole lot of blog chatter over at the Independent last weekend discussing the possibility of an investigative reporter writing a story digging up the biographical and historical facts on Ms. Wendy McCaw (nee Petrak). This is a warning to any prospective freelance writers and enterprising reporters that any publication of any aspect of The Wendy's life story is a bad idea, and will likely result in some form of expensive litigation.

Is she Bluebeard re-incarnated as his parrot? Is there a locked room in her cliffside mansion containing the stuffed severed heads of her former lawyers and lovers that one must never enter?

The good things about lawsuits like the one against Paterno are that 1) she has an excellent attorney who will fight aggression with aggression, and 2) he has a damn good chance of not only getting the lawsuit dismissed immediately, but of getting a court order making Wendy pay his attorneys fees, rather than having Paterno (or AJR) do so. No doubt if the court rules that way, Wendy will appeal, but those appellate fees will ultimately be tacked on. So with these kinds of lawsuits, Wendy may end up effectively employing not only her own lawyers, but those who are hired to oppose her abusive and retaliatory litigation!

The American Journalism Review's top editor, Rem Rieder, had this to say about Wendy's lawsuit:

(This is an excerpt. Go to www.ajr.org to read his entire response.)

"... Paterno made every effort to solicit comment from the paper's owner, Wendy McCaw, and other top executives at the paper. They declined through a spokesperson. When Paterno continued to try to seek comment, she received a letter from a lawyer for the paper warning her to discontinue her efforts..."

The piggies are back. Today's New-Press has a front page article by Anna Davison on a turkey shoot on Santa Cruz Island, but the article spends a lot of the column space rehashing the eradication of the ferral pigs on the island. It's not spun too badly but uses the old trick of juxtapositioning two opposing viewpoints in a way that makes them appear to have equal value. To give the News-Press credit, the quotes from the Nature Conservancy spokes person are good. It just seems to me that if one wanted to put game animal slaughter on the front page, the whole of bird and deer hunting seasons in the nearby national forest could be liberally splashed with literary gore. Ms. McCaw seems obsessed with exposing only the hunts being carried out on the Channel Islands. If she wants to use her paper to champion the plight of hunted creatures, she could definately broaden her view.

Wendy will keep trying to silence her critics, silence other media, silence her own employees.

I wonder how she's going to try to silence the National Labor Relations Board when it holds a public hearing on Jan. 9 in Santa Barbara to address her failure to recognize the newsroom union after a 33-6 vote.

WE WILL PREVAIL!!!

Well Donaldo, Christmas nazi eh???? In my moderately long life I’ve never been accosted by anyone who “demanded” a reply of Merry Christmas to their salutation. I don’t know what world you live in, but the concept of Christmas is being “attacked” all over the western world. That is just a plain and undeniable fact and to do otherwise is ignorant, and you don’t strike me as being that ignorant. And, before you (or anyone else) dust off accusation of blood and gore from the middle ages; yes, there was plenty of it that occurred 500 years ago, but at least it was half a millenium ago and not going today. Plus, there was plenty of it occurring world-wide and not just relegated to one corner of the globe.

However, by your closing of “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar” I guess that means you endorse slavery, religious intolerance, clitorictomies, forced marriage, honor killings, burkas, Dhimmitude and other such wonderful and progressive ideas. I for one do not have any desire to live in the 12th century.

For all its warts, western civilization and it Judeo-Christian foundations are the most progressive and tolerant societies the world has ever known. Just read, anyone can see it.

So, for my part, I wish all here at BlogaBarbara a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year! (Even Donaldo ;-)

Let's invite Kitty Kelley to teach here! Wikipedia says "she has never been successfully sued for libel and has never been forced to retract a written statement." Does anyone know where Wendy was born? Her family, siblings? It is scandalous a prominent nouveau riche citizen can hide their early years. How do we know she wasn't in detention? And if she was, why secrets? Only a well financed investigative reporter can get to the truth.

The little Daily Sound had this story on Monday! Blogabarbara is a little behind the game these days.

9:46 pm -- BlogaBarbara isn't a newspaper, it's a place where you can discuss the news. That presupposes that the news has happened already! I'm not out to scoop anyone!

I'm always befuddled by posters who complain Blogabarbara is biased against the News-Press management. The management's vantage point is always freely posted here. And besides, it's Sara's right to think whatever she chooses - and it's not Sara's fault that this blog happens to be popular AND frequented by like-minded people who are disgusted by McCaw's actions.

But, as a concerned citizen, I understand the fear some have of Blog Agenda. But there is safety on the Internet; to help these obviously confused and simple minded people out, I've created a blog to show them how easy it is to fight back against the treacherous agenda Sara allegedly has to destroy the News-Press.

http://proemployer.blogspot.com/

It took me about three or four minutes to set this up. Now, I just sit back and wait for Nip von Porkpattie, Steepleton, and Huff n' Puff to post three times a day. We shall rule the Earth with an iron fist!

Investigations are on my mind since boycott would mean strong organization. I'm still shopping but getting ready for a festive time. JOY TO ALL!
