Firestone Will Not Run

Brooks Firestone, who recently sold much of his winery to William Foley, has announced that he will not run for reelection to 3rd District Supervisor.....here's the story at The Independent.

This would certainly help Doreen Farr who will certainly face a chosen Republican....I've got a lead on who is being considered and will report on this soon. In the meantime, what does this mean to the third district race?

Jim Anderson is going to run. He is having a gathering next week to "explore his political future" at the Biltmore.

Smyser will also run. That's why he stepped down from the Planning Committee,

Anderson is a political corpse.

If he thinks he has a shot at Supervisor, that is all the more symptomatic of how brain dead he is.

Looks that this will be interesting. Smyser is not dumb, but south of the Mountains he is not well known; Farr is better known. But if Davies works for Smyser, that could be remedied.

I don't see a strong Demo candidate. The heart of the matter is to at least be respectable in the Santa Ynez Valley, then Goleta and IV could put the Demo over the top. Firestone ran strong in Goleta and lost IV, but with a strong SY majority he won the primary.

This is a HUGE gift to Farr, who could certainly win the race with the right preparation and resources. Why the heck not? She has more policy experience than then-neophyte Gail Marshall, who won THREE TIMES in the same district. And she's not polarizing.

Farr just needs to fund-raise aggressively and prepare herself for the public jousting.

As for Anderson, does he even live in the district? Last I heard, he resides in the city of Lompoc, which is in the 4th District. (Firestone's constituency includes the areas outside the city.)

And no, Anderson's not electable. But anyone would tell you that.

David Bearman is responsible for the huge marijuana dispensary mess that he dumped in Santa Barbara. Here is one huge clue what would happen if he got elected.

Watch out county. Don't let him trash you too.

"And she's not polarizing."

LOL!!! Please tell me you're joking! She is one of the most polarizing activists in the area and is despised by many in both the SYV and on the south coast. She would actually energize people to work/donate/vote for her opponent.
