JMike doth protest too much, methinks.

Under the byline, Justin "JMIKE" Michael -- this is part of an opinion piece that was printed in The Daily Nexus on Tuesday:
Do you think I’d run for mayor if I’d strangled, punched or choked a woman? I plead guilty to a misdemeanor domestic charge, which I plan to expunge this June. The girl in question brought charges against three other prominent men. It’s a “Fatal Attraction” or “Swimfan” type saga.

Why all the kvetching about getting the help he needs and received at Zona Seca if he didn't "strangle, punch or choke" a woman? Like Queen Gertrude in Hamlet uncovering her own intentions -- JMike doth protest too much, methinks. Next, why would a mayoral candidate choose the Daily Nexus to submit an opinion piece? Yes, there are student voters that live in Santa Barbara but Nexus readership is certainly more Isla Vista-based.

He goes on, rather full of himself, to tell us about speaking on Oprah and how therapy helps. Day-by-day, he says, he is getting the helps he needs. Now some great advocate for women's rights, JMIke wants to be your Mayor -- all I see is a big ego and an even bigger risk for voters in Santa Barbara.

Why give him this publicity, Sara? That's all he's running for and you're helping him. That op-ed, and I had read it a couple of days ago, wasn't worth its ink.

I would rather read about how Iya Falcone is a big flip flopper and amazingly is absent from city Council meetings when she wants to avoid a controversial vote.

I don't think this guy has a snowball's chance in hell of being elected Mayor. Why are you covering him like he's a serious candidate?

If it is purely for comic relief, that's fine. My guess is that's the case. But you should clarify that for your readers.

It is for comic relief but stranger things have happened in electoral politics -- people should know about him.

i heard he's in it for the money- that if he raises funds but doesn't use them all in the campaign,he can use them for personal use.

can someone versed in campaign finance law inform me if that is possible?

I'm not gonna look it up but as I remember the trick is you pay yourself a salary from the campaign fund.

It's a tried and true scam used every four years by the likes of Jesse Jackson, Alan Keyes, Rev. Al Sharpton and all the other quadrenial candidates with no chance. Collect that 25$ bucks from the church widows and orphans, babies...

This level of arrogant hubris is repeated in the "Non-Profit" scam so prevelant in this town. Don't get me started...It's enough to make me want to shave my head and move to Idaho.
