Bored in Montecito
We read in the Montecito Journal the usual snide condescension toward Santa Barbara's elected government, Jaime the editor regularly hyperventilating tired comparisons to creeping communism. One wonders what era this is. The journal conforms to no discernable journalistic standards, largely featuring vanity articles wrapped around lucrative local display ads.
The rare news caters to the wealthy residents' major preoccupation in the virtual gated community, complaining about the neighbors messing up their views. The other is offering praises and adoration to the Great RealtorĀ© who bestows the blessings of rising values in a community run by a handful of the self-appointed guardians of the status quo where substantial wealth is the only requirement for entry. Montecito's real secret is its terminal boredom, so many trying so hard to figure out something to do. I'll take the relatively more real world of Santa Barbara's democratic squabbles.

Ask Ty Warner about Montecito's boredom.
Too bad we do not have South Coast Beacon to kick around any more!!
Newspaper watchers knew that rag was toast months earlier before it folded, when the Beacon could not attract even ads by Chumash Casino, which is not known for their pickiness about spreading their image in ads.
I do not think Das, or Dassy, meddles or influences anyone on Montecito Planning Commission, as this blog entry is about Montecito... right?
Val I think they are bored with montecito and threw another shot at the poster boy for abuse right now - Das. BTW heard the samething around the city that Das maybe getting some heat, maybe legal about pounding on city planning commissioners. Not sure what it is about, but clear that some staff is uptight about it.

Uh, don't think the entries can't be traced . . . one good civil suit will calm the slashers.
In addition, the host has some exposure.
Remember, it does not matter a bit if you are right, it only matters if you can afford it.
All it takes is one good cause of action.
Some people think that anything that gets staff uptight is good, as city staff usually need to be deflated to recall for whom they really work.
Most of the City Planning Commissioners need some pounding as well.
That's exactly right.
I can afford it
I deleted a post which made an unfounded statement based on hearsay -- it's one thing to have political discourse and even have a little fun, it's another to make unsubstantiated allegations. If it ever shows up in the paper, we can talk about it.
If all unfounded statements based on heresay were deleted, not much would be left to read among all the postings.
