Carbajal Coffers

A day after nasty emails by Carpinteria Council Member Greg Gandrud were made public by the News-Press, it's reported that Carbajal has $100,000 in his war chest -- impressive. It's gotta make Gandrud think twice about running against him in 2009....whether or not Carbajal is a "BMW driving elitist" as the BMW driving Gandrud claims. Passive agressive? Maybe. Wierd -- definitely. Civil? Definitely not.

The Monday article of the email nasty-grams only made Gandrud look all the more stupider and clueless. Gandrud has been saying more and more desperate and irrational statements during recent transportation planning meetings, no doubt because his unfunded lane expansion freeway wishes are still not gaining traction.

Some of the most conservative Democrats around here drive Bimmers, especially topless ones.

One certainty, Salud is officially overexposed for the rest of the month. And so nice to know he now has contributor money to spend on party admissions.

Apparently, both of them drive Boring Marin Wheels, the car of choice of highly paid governing types - doesn't Iya also drive one? - although I think the Carp. council salary is low to non-existent.

More to the point, both of them should take deep breaths and realize they represent their constitutents. Maybe it is impossible for Gandrud to recognize and remember this, but what's Carbajal's excuse?

First I want to know why these e-mails were worthy of an article. Second, I'm not quite sure why Mr. Carbajal's response is considered rude. I've had conversation with Mr. Gandrud about the 101 and you can't reason with him. In my opinion Gandrud pulled a fast one on Mr. Carbajal and the News Press for publicly airing a private e-mail exchange. Mr. Carbajall now knows he needs to be more careful with his e-mails. He also needs to learn how handy the 'delete' button is. The News Press editors are such ideologues that they convinced themselves this was news.

those of us who've known Mr. Gandrud in his many incarnations over the past two decades know that he has no basis in reality. period. ever. he is all ego. and I am not a "FOS" for the record.

When's his term up? And why was he elected? (serious question - I don't live in Carp. and so can't understand how such an ego-ridden type appealed to the voters.)

As for Carbajal, definitely right about the delete button.... but I think the NP was right to publish --- public officials behaving like this may not be news but it certainly belongs in the newspaper.
