I read today's issue. Not that impressed but I realize its not fair to judge too harshly too soon.
The article about the Red Cross flags did not make sense.
Santa Barbara Daily Sound now has a rudimentary web site
www.santabarbarafree.com
They now have published 2 daily issues (23 & 24 March 2006), and it looks good for what it is.
Probably no daily news content to be forthcoming at their web site, as that is the point of picking up the print editions so also to see the ads and patronize the stores where this free daily is distributed. That is their obvious business model, and for a circulation starting at 3000. Maybe ads at the web site will happen eventually, to support growing content.
The news so far is fairly straight, bread-and-butter, beans-and-rice faire, with lots of feed by Reuters. The defacto editorial column top of page 3 is rather punchy and may get more politically interesting after the editor-publisher-manager-CEO gets some more sleep.
And for those of you all who have seen Volume 1, Issue 1, of SBDS, we soon will inform them what is UP with those steelhead fish sculptures along State Street downtown!!
