Indie Endorses Wolf

Saying "To be a supervisor on the Santa Barbara County board, you can run but can't hide", the Santa Barbara Independent endorsed Janet Wolf today saying she understands the issues, lives in Goleta and earned her wings on the Goleta School Board. I'm glad they didn't endorse two candidates at opposite ends of the spectrum like the News-Press did....

Uh....what, no comment on Janet Wolf running part of her campaign out of a county fire station???

Running her campaign out of a fire station? It sounded to me like the firefighters made a mistake...I'm so tired of these attempts to take any politician down. Just about had it -- I'm beginning to wonder whether it's worth fighting anywmore.

You guys can talk about the firestation here -- if Das got the endrosement or even Joe or Dan -- you would have seen a post too.

Sara, your energy is showing, and that's wonderful.
Your site here is great, gives everyone an opportunity to write and immediately see their stuff and get a reaction.
Keep on keeping on.

Why don't you folks complaining about what Sara blogs start your own for godsakes. The whole point is to talk about what you want to.

I guess they're just angry that the Indy endorsed Janet, and want to change the subject?

Congratulations to Janet on winning the endorsement and the help of public safety. I don't remember any Travis Armstrong outrage when the firefighters helped Iya Falcone - but, maybe I'm wrong?

Bill,

With Joe working at the County you might want to be real careful about as stones and glass houses. You never know what might show up. I agree with Sara on this one. And it begs the question of just how close Joe and Travis are working together if Travis is showing up asking for Janet Wolf campaign materials. It's amazing how popular Travis gets when his "hit pieces" aren't hitting you.

After the Planning Commission took away Joe's one issue campaign and the Indy endorsed Janet instead of Das, Travis's story is all their campaigns can hang their hats on. Good luck, it won't be enough.

No, we are pointing out that Sara's opinions DO show, even though she doesn't think they do. Sara, do you want feedback on your journalism, or shall we keep quiet on that? Your choice of course. Thanks for the blog.

The only reason you started a thread about the Guzzardi/Secord endorsement was that you were shamed into doing it. The "just busy over the last couple of days" excuse doesn't fly when you post a long thread about Travis. And you even managed to take a pot-shot at the Guzzadri/Secord endorsement at the beginning of this thread.

Wolf's candidacy and the firestation were not really the issue in today's article. They just provided an opportunity for Armstrong to bring up Marty's Blum's two campaign-related e-mails from City Hall for the 827th time in the News-Press.

Just think what he could discover if the News-Press turned its investigative powers on all of the candidates.

Firefighters made a MISTAKE! Really now... How about they are misappropriating public funds, pitching for their chosen candidate while being paid to do the public's business with the public's money. Campaign on your own time and out of your own place.

3:03/3:09 -- I don't pretend to be a journalist and clearly I've taken plenty of feedback on this blog and published it -- often even when it doesn't make me look good. You guys can think what you want -- I'm not purposely leaving out posts. I actually have a life outside of BlogaBarbara though! Miss a couple of morning newspapers and you are a biased scoundrel! Yikes.

3:43 -- Amen to that.

4:08 -- Agreed that they shouldn't be doing that. Bad firemen! I just wish Armstrong would have covered the police emails in the last city council race -- talk about biased!

Did Armstrong actually show up and pretend to be a Wolf supporter as stated here? Or did he identify himself? If he pretended to be somebody else that would be the "wrong way" to approach this.

INDEPENDENT not only endorsed Wolf, but Maryanne's Editorial is succinct and goes into much more depth than the 'soundbites' could ever achieve as to why Janet Wolf is the best candidate for Supervisor.

Funny that right after Das' dad complains about a Travis Armstrong hitpiece he would post a piece from Travis that attacks county firefighters and Janet Wolf

Yea---funny thing about "clean campaign" pledges.....maybe Das' dad didn't get the memo.....thing is, Das' official website LINKS to the blog that his dad has so prominently featured Travis' editorial on today. Just imagine if the tables were turned.....not a surprise, but so tacky, so low.

At least he could have also posted the Independent endorsement of Wolf, but..................what 'fun' would that be eh?

yea now watch Das will somehow blame his Dad. unfortunately, his own official campaign site links directly to it as the official "blog"

so much for Mr. Clean

what's really amazing is that Das' campaign blog [run by his dad but linked to his official website] entry today went to great lengths to omit the three references to Marty Blum that were in Travis' editorial; wouldn't want to hurt one of his son's biggest cheerleaders now........

Funny thing - Lois spends Federal raised money on a local race and the county fire stations are Janets HQ - all either highly questionable or flat out illegal - and where is Susan Rose in all Janet's materials ?

Wow. People had some yard signs on county property. Kind of like all those Joe Guzzardi signs illegally placed on county property all over the 2nd District, particularly in Goleta?

Some people think the only reason Joe Guzzardi wants to protect open space is so that it will continue to be a place for him to put signs for his continual losing efforts for public office. This year will be his 4th failed attempt to get elected to something! Secord is a career politician, Das is an aspiring career politician, and Joe is a wannabe career politician!

So I came home last night and had a piece of mail asking "Who is the real Das Williams?" The piece had a giant "?" on the cover. Turns out the piece says Das is a great guy who always keeps his word, but the funny thing is it didn't have a union label on it.

Since Das is endorsed by some labor groups I think it is strange that he is using non-union labor. Non-union shops don't pay a living wage or even overtime

Yes, I believe you intentionally left out a thread. It was too glaring of an omission. The two main themes of this blog are the 2nd district supervisor race and the NewsPress. The Guzzardi/Secord endorsement occurred on Friday, which I am absolutely sure you heard about before Sunday. So when you were done having your life and sat down to post a new thread on Blogabarbara, you decided to post a different very lengthy thread about Travis-hating-women. Then we called you out, so you were forced to start a thread about the endorsement, with a dismissive tone in your language. Quite simply, you're lying.

I don't think you are a biased scoundrel, I just think you are biased. And that's ok, if that's the way you present yourself. But you don't.

Lois Capps has broken the law by not reporting her contribution to Wolf. Why has the News Press not reported it? Becuase they hate Das and his progressive agenda. The hidden hand of the corporate power brokers will now leave this unreported to hurt Das.

Sara, your should be commended for running this blog. Though it isn't as free speech as I would like...review of posts....it is the best we have in Santa Barbara. You have been fair in your postings of comments. Those who complain are part of the hidden power structure in Santa Barbara. Mere lackys and stooges paid for by guys like towbes. They will do anything to infiltrate progressive dialogue and supress it.

Hi. I'm Das' dad Malcolm. Since I was mentioned in several of the posts in this thread, I thought I would explain a few things that I believe are being misinterpreted: 1) DAS Blog is a blog that I do because I am proud of my son. It has been in existence since around 2/2005. I am solely responsible for its content; 2) The way most blog templates are designed, the most recent post goes to the top, no matter how important it is in the whole scheme of things; 3) I have posted Travis Armstrong's criticism of both my son and Janet Wolf (please see my comments to comments about this, at DAS Blog); 4) Since I quote from newspapers much of the time, I can't quote the entire articles due to copyright. So, I pick the parts about my son (and lately his campaign and those things relative to it) and edit out as much as I can the rest -- trying not to lose the subject of the post... I will be posting something about the Independent endorsement, but have not gotten to it, yet. Thank you for the opportunity of explaining myself and thank you for reading DAS Blog.

Sara,

I have been quite critical of you at times but 9:55 is, quite simply, a jerk. I believe you actually have a right to a private life that doesn't involve slavish attention to the knuckleheads awaiting their latest missive to post on your blog. And it is your blog. So whomever the "we" that "called you out" is, start your own blog. You can post your own progaganda all day long. By your standards it will, of course, be fair. After all it will say everything you want it to say.

Malcolm, your son is the progressive light that shines our path. You have done nothing wrong. You are his father and should not have to explain your support for him. The NP spends most of there time attacking him. The odds we face are long my brother, but we need to hang together and fight this onslaught that is headed by Lois Capps and John Davies. I myself, have taken to direct action. My motto is buy one NP and dump ten! This is a great blog.

How pathetic---now "DasDad" has posted his horribly and embarassingly juvenile denouncement of the Independent endorsement of Wolf--prefacing an edited version of the actual endorsement with his rant about why it should have been his son----shades of how Armstrong opines on the opinions of others instead of just publishing them. At the very least, Das could stop linking directly to this increasingly negative and "not so clean" blog.

Dear Das Dad -

Das now needs your help to find a new life - he will not make it in this race and sadly he will be defeated by Dr Dan and Janer Rose Wolf. Secord can only tlak about tax dollars and Janet says nothing - she has Lois to speak for her.

Sadily Janet will get eaten alive by the Secord Firestone Davies machine. It will be ugly - and oly Das could defend but Das lied and ran a horrible campaign.

If some of you are this mean under the guise of anonymous -- I'd hate to be your friends in real life. Ouch. Give Das' Dad a break -- what else would you expect from him?

I agree that folks should lay off personal attacks on the Dad. But on the other hand he has inserted his role as a parent into the race or at least the campaign. It just another reminder that Das, while a bright young man, just brings too many distractions and drama to the party. Sorry, not this time.

632--- its DAS who needs to take responsibility for what is put out there in his name; DAS' official website has a link to "BLOG", implying if not obviously his official blog----and that goes to his dad's==sure, let his dad do what he wants but at least take the link off his official campaign website. Its embarassing--or should be---to any candidate purporting to be running a 'clean' campaign.
