We'll Miss You Matt!

KTYD's Matt McAllister will not be on the air this week as he has taken a gig at KNIX in Phoenix. They already have a web page for his countrified show entitled Ben & Matt.

McAllister did much for KTYD's ratings and struck out on his own with cameos for the Discovery Channel and his successful attack at the Guiness Book of World Record for wearing the most t-shirts at one time.

How much his ambitions in TV and popular culture had to do with this hire and Rincon's opinion of it -- we will not know. Matt, however, tells The Santa Barbara Independent that “Santa Barbara is always a place you want to leave open in case you want to come back.”

Julie and Hayseed will keep things going and I kind of hope they click. They probably will if they kick it up a notch as this is their opportunity for the big time.

I wish the best to Matt as I will miss seeing him at Plaza Deli during lunch and Pizza Mizza with the family. Most of all, I will miss his sharp wit in the early morning. Best to you, brother!

I could not warm up to this show. Too much like watching the L.A. morning news-talk weather boobs and traffic geeks. The very superficial surface level beerfest crowd will surely miss Matt. (SDLG I am surprised at this post.)

Matt, I'll miss you. You made mornings fun. As for anonymous, having a little fun in the morning isn't a superficial thing. You can't always take life that seriously. Thanks for the laughs Matt!

I will miss Matt and his great show. I guess that makes me part of the "very superficial surface level beerfest crowd," which I think means I like a good laugh now and then.

Good luck Matt.
You did alright. Good on you for being ready to move up. It's not that easy to leave SB.

Julie Ramos - You've come a long way from the Red Rocket.

Compliments to Rincon for waking up to your local status in SB. Your fire coverage and pre-storm warning last week were good steps in the right direction.

Thanks also to Rincon's Peter Bie for keeping us updated.

Now let's see how good you are at putting together the new KTYD morning show!

I'm a grandmother & way past a superficial beerfest lifestyle. I found him very funny & entertaining.

It was an AM drive time show on a rock and roll station! Matt and his crew did a great job staying in touch locally despite the confines of the format. You could always roll the dial back to NPR if you like a more serious morning experience. Lighten up. Another round anyone?

No No. There is no question. There is nothing of any value or substance to this show.
