Travis' Prediction Comes True. KEYT Christmas Video Made Public

In one of his many rants against the "cabal", News-Press Editor Travis Armstrong "predicted" that the controversial KEYT Christmas Video would become public. At the time, I thought it would be a matter of days and that he must have had inside knowledge. Here it is months later -- and it is being published all over the internet by a Lew Marklin. Why now? What precipitated this massive upload project? Shameless self promotion over some kind of internet television show? Here's what I was sent last night.... -- Sara

over the last year or so there has been articles and blogs throughout the internet on the controversial Christmas video by KEYT TV. It was released to the internet last night. I forwarded the link to Travis Armstrong first, and this evening it will go to the Independent, Santa Maria Times, Ventura Star, and the rest of the blogs. Here is the link. Let your readers make the call.

Hmmm, pure coincidence that a former KEYT guy, Don Katich, was just hired by the N-P as "news coordinator"?

Is this supposed to be some kind of scandal? I could only manage to watch about half of it...it is so totally boring.

So what's the big fuss all about? It's obviously an inhouse video for KEYT employees, probably shown at an office party. Looks like they're having fun and enjoy working with one another.

I watched the video. It was funny. KEYT staff making fun of themselves in a spoof.

In college, we'd have an April 1 edition of our newspaper in which we would make up news stories, run humorous photos and somewhat serve as The Onion, taking a satirical look at everything on campus.

That April Fools Edition looked very similar to how the Santa Barbara News-Press appears every day. And now we can all see how Travis Armstrong hyped up the KEYT video in his editorial, making much ado about nothing.

Lew Marklin inserting an edit with the branding of his own name and then distributing the video work of another producer really does reek of unethical practice here in the Wild West of New Media on the Internets.

However, the bigger lesson here is that this is yet another example of how clueless TKA is to think no one eventually would see this video that wadded up the TKA panties so tightly a few months ago.

The video is nothing but the KEYT staff having fun with an inside joke intended for themselves.

Big Effin Deal again with the Travistorials being about nothing, especially when the actual original document, or video, becomes known so readers or viewers can judge for themselves instead of reading about a reality through the warped, cynical glasses of TKA.

Big whoopie. TKA's drama queen approach to writing has a pretender for the crown in Marklin's video "work." Me thinks they doth profess too much...

Seriously? How old is this video, just by what they are spoofing it's got to be at least 2+ years old, and am I missing something. Why is this so controversial or unethical...Lewis Marklin Mash has admitted on his own show to being arrested aleast twice in the past year for DUI, the most recent being New Years 2008. And he brags about it.... and this is who TKA gets his information from. Lewis get a real job... oh wait... it'd be too easy for the child support office to find you...

Humor is where you find it Bill, or are you setting up a board of humor censorship? Or just defending Travis...

First District Streetfighter is so biased by his anti-Travis glasses that he must have missed the "for Non-Jews" sign in the video. Sorry, but that's not funny. It is offensive. In house video or not, it is offensive. BTW I am ALSO offended by Travis and the N-P actions. But please don't make the logical error of condoning or praising something on the sole basis that Travis objects to it. too simplistic and big folly.

If anyone actually knows that the "for Non-Jews" sign in the video was supposed to mean or imply, and who made the sign and for what audience and in what context, then some righteous indignation would be in order. Although that is all a stretch for a video never intended for public viewing.

Seems like First District Street Fighter really was just pointing out how the actual video was an obscure insider job that, once exposed, again verifies how it was "much ado about nothing" and no "Big Effin Deal".

The real story here is how "Travistorials" are ridiculously one-sided and factually challenged when the actual subject of the editorial becomes known.

Just what is the "double standard" here that KEYT allegedly violated?
Believe it or not, Bill Carson, no one cares about a video made by interns at KEYT intended for their own internal laughs.

Just how hot and bothered are any of us clear thinkers supposed to get over a joke video never intended for us to view?

Not quite everyone thinks the words Jew or Bitch automatically make everything antisemitic or mysogynistic.

Who is Dothing Protesting too much now with high drama hissy fits?

So according to Gentle Blinders "Not quite everyone thinks the words Jew or Bitch automatically make everything antisemitic or mysogynistic." ;

Sorry, GB, but creative as I might get, I couldn't even make up a reason why a sign with the words "Non-Jew Parking" would be ANYTHING but antisemitic

Yes, it is true that I have had 2 DUI's and addressed them on my show, to my audience, rather than run away or try to hide it. It was a repeated mistake that I reprimanded myself for, so that our young viewing audience would know that I do not approve of my own actions. I now attend AA meetings daily, and have not drank since that 2nd DUI. It is not what you do in life that matters, as much as, what you do about it that counts in the end. I also volunteer my video production to SEVERAL non-profit orgs in Santa Barbara and elsewhere across the country, making commercial PSA's and fundraising documentaries free of charge, and have done so for the last 3 years.

Sorry Court Jester -- understand where you are coming from but we need to get off that train of thought...not interested in airing it here.

This video was not particularly controversial....it was pretty boring IMHO. I guess it would be interesting to the people who starred in it, who "get" whatever inside jokes there are.

Maybe the "non-jew parking" sign is anti-semitic. Although, to this Jewish viewer, it wasn;t that offensive. There are enough truly offensive things going on in the world today that it is hard to get too upset about this little sign.

The funniest line in the whole video was in the spoof of 'The View' where they said it was a show about "the only opinions that really matter....ours"

I am not a major hater ot TKA or the SBNP, but its perplexing why anyone would try to get everyone upset about a "controversial" video like this. At best, it just seems like a waste of time.
