Election Night Round Up

With many votes still to be counted, there are a few close races and a few for which we need information from other counties.

Our 19th State Senate District, for instance, spans Santa Barbara, Ventura and part of Los Angeles County. It looks as though Hannah Beth Jackson should win with a stronger than expected vote in Ventura County. Currently, she holds a 12,000 vote lead over Strickland in my studies of results from each county.

Santa Barbara School Board shows Cordero, Deacon and Heron squeezing by. Goleta looks like it will have an environmental duo in Connell and Easton. Council Member Aceves will now be the all important third vote on many issues. In Carpinteria, Council Member Joe Armendariz held on to his seat despite a tough challenge in a Democratic year. Doreen Farr looks to have had an easy time with a good 10 point lead over Pappas. Most of the other candidates we expected to win like Capps, Nava and Gallegly look like they will win handily.

The story of the night may be that many of the money-related propositions look like they will pass. Measure A, Measure H, Measure I and even Measure G all look like they will pass.

Tonight will clearly be a night we will all remember for the Obama win and the sobering acceptance speech. He made it clear there is work to do and I am glad he reached out and said he would be "your President too" to those who did not support him.

More on the elections tomorrow.

"even" Measure G ??
Any bias or baggage there, Sara??

The election night result:
Yes 70.62%
No 29.38%

It only needed a simple majority.
Measure G is about a reduction in the Santa Barbara City utility tax and slight expansion of what is now subject to the tax in the 21st Century.

Of course, opponents and blowhards who were/are against Measure G just got tested again for their relevance in Santa Barbara public affairs.

Obama was bought, signed and sealed by the unions. That is whose president he is. He is their puppet and all his fundraising came directly from their coffers. It is time to stop inhaling the Kool-Aid. He outspent McCain 7 to 1.

More than 40% of the country cannot stand him. "Bringing us all together" is code for think like me, or else. He cannot "bring us all together" because he stands for the worst in America and he has to soberly live with that conclusion.

Clinton was ripped apart in less than two years by the opposition. Bush II was ripped apart in two years as well in his last election. Staying in opposition to unbridled power is a duty of all Americans. You are absurd to suggest otherwise.

Please do not insult what made America great - a deep system of checks and balances. And nothing needs more checking and balancing than Barack Hussein Obama. And he will get it. The Supreme Court will balance the extremes of his agenda. The constitutionally sanctioned fillibuster and protections for the minority will check his agenda.

And a newly revived fourth estate that now includes independent blogs will expose the legion of abuses already committed by the Obama campaign. He already has too much to answer for and he will not take any comfort ripping the electoral process to shreds.

His first task is to stop pretending he will "bring us all together" His first task is to humbly accept he never will and govern with respect for this political certitude.

"nobama":

Do not forget to mention that President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama also is a Muslim, foreign-born, Socialist, Redistributionist, Arab.

Did I miss anything?

And just a tip: if only just a bit more than 40% of the electorate do not like a winning candidate, that is a HUGE mandate for governance, cuz 100 - 40 - 1 (for Nader et al.) equals a 59% landslide majority in favor.

Do not forget the Blogabarbara standing order: don't drink and blog.

Nobama...you are one cranky dude. Watch your blood pressure, stay off the sauce, meditate. Give your bulging eyes a chance to recede before one of 'em pops. And more fiber; LOTS more fiber; you're plain full of crap and it's clearly giving you issues. Let it go.

Heard a joke the other day: "To the American Public: due the slumping economy, soaring costs of living and deaths in Iraq, the light at the end of the tunnel has officially been turned off. Sorry for the inconvenience. Signed: George W. Bush." Laughed pretty good for a few seconds before the irony sobered me up.

Here's news hit for you cranky dude: Obama just turned the light back on.

I am so very, very proud of my country. Let the cranky people whine. There is a lot of damage to undo after these last sad eight years, but finally, this is America's time once more.

Reality check Barbara. You are not proud of "your" country. You are only proud of the scant majority that suckered in for Obama.

You are not proud of the less than this scant majority that clearly marked their ballots Nobama. The fun now is to sit back and watch Obama fail and take bets how soon this will happen. My money is this will be very, very soon.

The man for change already is stocking his administration with Clinton insider retreads which proves he has no clue about what this job actually entails and is choosing to phone it in, just like he did his campaign. I could have sworn from his primary campaign anything Clinton was antithesis to hope and change. How was I so blind?

Obama hires a pack of nazi stormtroopers to guard the palace gate, run the show and tell him when to show up and what to say. You are proud of this, Barbara? I beg to differ.

It is morning in America again, and everyone seems to have woken up with a massive hangover.

In a national election, a scant majority is NOT 7%. But that requires you to know math.

You know, I am taking such glee in all of the Obama-bashing that I am reading from folks like Nobama. I LOVE IT. Keep it coming. Cry, whine, troll - let it all hang out. I smile with every word, savour every morsel of contempt you have for Obama - because he, at the end of election day, threw it all back in your face.

Keep complaining. Please. I need to hear it, because it helps relieve me of the contempt I felt for the last eight years of this lunatic we still call President.

That is, until Jan. 20th. That's when the nightmare ends - and the renaissance begins.

The rich pay for your job, or your handouts, or for your trust fund, or for your customer's income, or for your parent's estate you are sitting around waiting for while you p*ss away your life and your attitude on the computer. Choke on that, ETR.

8 years of Bush was too much for me too, which is exactly why I did not vote for Obama and get four more of the same arrogant nazi in the Whitehouse. I have been SOL now for 12 years. But at least it will be fun to watch Obama finally get unmasked and watch his supporters betrayed one by one by one. Day by day by day. Schadenfreude, jawol!

Loved that video out there about Obama Supporter Withdrawal Pangs - I'll go look it up for you. It keeps the rest of us happy through this next long national nightmare knowing you finally are getting yours.

Hey eat this, here is a munchie for your midnight withdrawal pangs: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/obama_win_causes_obsessive?utm_source=embedded_video

Eat this, I know you need to have someone to hate now that you don't have Hillary, Sarah or McCain. You need to hate me, but don't lose your sense of humor in the process because attacking Obama will be fun for 4 years, and all you get is GERD out of it.

Ha!

Clearly, you are mistaking hate for pity - but far be from me to let your narcissism get in the way.

You calling Obama a "nazi" is brilliant. Keep it coming. I love every minute of it. Seriously, the most brilliant of comedians couldn't write your lines. It's adorable.

Let me guess - you also voted for Prop 8 as well. Am I right? I think I am...

And speaking of schadenfreude:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWZHTJsR4Bc

Palin will be reduced to a crossword puzzle clue in 4 years. She has plenty of time to implode. Just watch.

In the meantime, keep it coming. I'm laughing all the way to Jan 20th.

Just for the record ETR, and to show what a simpelton you are, I voted No on 8. Seems it was the Obama people who voted gay marriage down. That must be hard to explain, eh ETR.

But then your guy was against 8, and also against gay marriage. I am soooooooooo confused by The One. I am unworthy to be His supporter.

BTW: How long before Obama equivocates himself into a Gray Davis total meltdown? Day Two ..... and counting.

There was silver in that lining though on Black Tuesday - redistricting won. California will change. There is hope. Schwarzenegger rules.

But then your guy was against 8.

Yeah, uh, no he wasn't. He publicly stated that he opposed Prop 8, as did Biden. Palin and McCain, on the other hand....

But keep it coming. And yes, you are unworthy.

David -- finally have a minute. No, don't have a bias against G other than I was surprised that most of the initiatives passed.

Nobama -- let's chill on the nazi references. I thought -- after all the RNC molding of his campaign for so many months -- that McCain was a class act Tuesday night. Feel free to go after Obama on the issues but ket's stay away from the name calling of him and his supporters.

Consider me chastized, SDLG. I will now stop using the "n" word and refer to Obama's chosen "n" gate keeper and instead refer to him as a cross between a .....toothache and a hemmorhoid.

Nice pick Obama, to prove you don't know jack diddle about the office you thugged your way into capturing. Did your secret pal George Soros really pull off the US financial meltdown just like he did in England, Russia and France in order to foster his own evil agenda?

When you find Soros money behind MoveOn, Acorn and every other Obama thug crowd, you just have to wonder. Soros is the one who secured Obama's first DNC appearance and he and Geffen moved hand in glove from that point on ....... to inflict their will on the US sheeple who were ripe to be taken over. Follow their history and you have Obama 2008. Prove me wrong.

Only a matter of time exposing many of the 3 million Obama "little people" supporters were AFL-CIO-SEIU members hacking the system with pre-paid credit card "donations".

Obama - you can fool some of the people all of the time and you all of the people some of the time, but you can'f fool all of the people all of the time.

However it looks like now if we all go to sleep for the next few months we will wake up to Clinton Redux as Obama turns his back on his supporters, cashes in on all his lies and turns his regime into something that looks more like the Clinton administration and his agenda into McCain I.

My vote was not wasted after all. I turn the TV off and never have to look at Obama or hear Obama's annoying voice and I get all the things I wanted from both Clinton and McCain. There is a god.

Obama is a irrelevant today in the big picture as the US has become. No wonder he won.

To whom it may concern...

Per Wikipedia: "A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding state of mind. Bigot is often used as a pejorative term against a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices even when these views are challenged or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable."

From Dictionary.com: "Synonyms of Bigot: fanatic, hypocrite, intolerant, racist, zealot, chauvinist, diehard, doctrinaire, enthusiast, extremist, fiend, maniac"

From Deeper's Dictionary: Sore losers spewing tired rhetoric.

Deep reality check: American politics is played on the 40 yard lines. The Loyal Opposition is the American Way. Live with it, deeper. And don't try to call it something it is not.

It is a lot more fun to be in the Loyal Opposition than being one of the Masses betrayed by The One.

Love Onion.com - at last a breath of fresh air that can mock Obama without fear. He earned it. He deserves it. And we all will be healthier for it.

I am glad I am not sweating bullets watching The One fail and stumble with every word, with every act and with every appointment. Even Charlie Rose has buyer's remorse. Who would have believed.

And ooops, even WaPo now realizes they spent too many stories adoring The One and too few on the issues now coming home to roost on the back of Obama/Soros/MoveOn/AFL-CIO/SEIU -- you know, those "special interests" who bought the Obama victory who now have their very greedy hands out waiting they payoffs.

Are Limousine Liberals finally waking up to the fact they shot themselves in the foot when all they thought they were doing was sticking it to the opposition.

Whoops again, all those Big Oil profits were used to pay dividends to Big Auto's pension plans. Oooops, no more. Obama is going to give all those profits to ACORN. SOL, eh Liberals?

Did not expect the Law of Unintended Consequnces to play out so quickly. And Obama has not even been crowned HTOTUS.

So much for change: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15497_Page2.html

Only the Obama campaign allowed for use of pre-paid credit card donations allowing how many donations not to be identified or tracked. Both Clinton and McCain refused to allow pre-paid credit card donations.

Refusing to account for the millions raised as "small donations" prevents tracking how many of these "small" donations were made from union members at the direction of union bosses who promised Obama $800 million from just this special interest group alone. They even admit to this on their union websites.

The lies and cover-ups begin so early for Obama, the man elected to bring change and transparency. All he has brought so far is lamer and lamer excuses why the rules are for someone else, but he is The One so he can break them all and we are supposed to be happy for it.

Bah. The disgust sets in early.
