Happy New Year!

All of us at Blogabarbara wish you a Happy New Year!

It looks like the News-Press web site got a makeover and is being launched this weekend, but it isn't showing up today.....makeover looks good, reliability unsure.

When I looked a few moments ago the new newspress.com site was up without problems. (I admit to getting up late.) It looks clean, even innovative for a newspaper site. The search so far seems much better than before. Happy New Year.

Das is running for supervisor. Not going to bow out after all, despite the rumors...

Sends a bad message to those who elected him to City Council just two short years ago. Tsk, tsk.

yep. now there's no question that Das is not looking for public service, he's looking for stepping stones.....

If I was looking for stepping stones, why wouldn't I just sit tight and run for Assembly? It is amazing how an "anonymous" person will accuse you of such self-serving motives, even if they don't know you very well. I invite anonymous to meet with me, so I can explain my soul-searching to you directly.

Is it inconceivable to you that I might want to do good?

"stepping stones" to what???

please, perceptioneer me some more...

Why should Das not run for Supervisor, but someone else should? When should he wait? When Secord finishes his third term as a Supervisor in 2018?

To Das and First District:

How about finishing the job we elected you to do, doing some remarkable things here in the City and "do good" in the job you were hired to do. Instead of soul-searching, be a Councilmember.

It is time for the almighty das to resign from the city council - right now.

otherwise every move it about his 2nd district not the city.

das, of mighty one please comment on this. we await your comments from on high.

Come on down Dassy.

Time to make a choice.

Are you holding on to the apron strings on the city council or really going for 2nd district.

No one will take you serious for second district unless you make a commitment and resign.

We are watching Dassy. Otherwise it is time for the Wolf and the Guzz. Get out of their way to beat Secord.

Das will not resign as it is all about him.

That is the difference with Janet. She cares about more than her. With Das and Guzz it is about them.

With Janet, she cares and will really represent us.

Oh give me a break. Wofe is a Rose clone. Das is the only one who can win and he needs to keep his platform on the city council. Who cares about him being on the council. He can do more than Falcone et al in his sleep. This all about the old guard preventing the young buck from winning as they did not pick him. Iya get over it. Susan get over it. Das and Pedro are the real progressives. Let them be.

Wolf is a Namoi clone and we could use some of that right now. Das is too aggressive. Joe is too unexperienced. Wolf can win or we will hand a 4-1 to Firestone. Do you really want to do that?

Lets get off it. Joe is the only one who will relate to noleta and we will determine this election. Wolf will be like Rose demanding more density in our neighborhoods. Das is just looking for his next move to the state or congress. They only real candidate is Joe. He gets it - he will represent us while the others will play the game. If we wanted Naomi we would have moved to Montecito. If we wanted Das we would move to the city of Santa Barbara. We want someone to help us in Noleta. Someone to help us with our issues.

Dear Anonymous,

You talk about "us" in Noleta and how Wolf will demand more density in your neighborhoods. It might surprise you to learn that Wolf is not a clone of Rose or Schwartz. She represented your neighborhood on the school board and everybody who saw her knows she will be fair, will listen, and will preserve and protect your neighborhood. Rather than having other people make up your mind for you, why don't you get some information about her, and the other candidates. I would suggest the CSP Forum coming up on the 18th as a way to do that...

Also, people ought to leave Das alone. If the voters of the 2nd District decide it is not his time yet they'll let him know at the polls. This race is about the voters, not the personalities of the candidates or the motives of those endorsing them.

as if Das' ego isn't what compels him to interrupt his City Council term to split the 2nd District progressive vote and thus ensure Secords' victory.

1/08/2006 10:04 AM

Will the vote really be so split that Secord gains more than 50% ????

Or, would a PRIMARY format actually assure that no one in such a field gets more than 50% ????

keep perceptioneering....

wishful thinking---or, in your words, perceptioneering. to think it will not be split is naive and self-serving;
