Coastal Woman Magazine Closes Doors

It is with great sadness and dismay that I report on Coastal Woman Magazine's demise. Barbara Lanz-Mateo posted her goodbye letter early this morning. This is a loss for Santa Barbara in that the high level of journalism and commitment to the community that was prevalent on Coastal Woman's pages made a huge impact. Barbara's passionate commitment will be missed and I wish her and the staff of CW the best in all of their future endeavors.

The magazine biz is a tough one, and Barbara Lanz-Mateo and her staff did a great job in a niche market--there was a time when the News Press published an equally fine publication known as "Woman," but it devolved into a crummy advertorial of zero value. Coastal Woman, in contrast, maintained high editorial standards (and except for the dubious auctioning of bachelors), added something of value to the community--an accomplishment to hold dear.

Does anyone know contact info for Barbara? I'm very sorry to learn here that Coastal Woman Magazine has folded.

To "Good Friend" -- please stop commenting on this post...you aren't going to get anywhere with your argument as it violates our community guidelines.
