Armstrong Cries Foul

Her man at De la Guerra went after the Slugger again about an ad that he says uses a picture of Councilmember Horton without his permission. The ad which appears underneath the Angry Poodle in The Independent this week pushes the candidacy of the Slugger's chosen council -- Horton, House and Channing. Stay tuned....the small blurb will probably turn into a full article by Sunday....

I know that it's not something that most people would consider a rational thing to do, but I am at the point where my voting decisions next month will be determined by the editorial page of the News-Press. Any person that the News-Press endorses will automatically be rejected by me as a reasonable choice for office.

My reasoning is this: The News-Press is clearly unable to make the distinction between legitimate editorial advocacy and unbalanced knee-jerk criticism. Marty Blum, the Coastal Commission, Lois Capps, Pedro Nava, and the Goleta City Council could take up the work of Mother Teresa and the News-Press would continue to trash them without a mention of any good deeds. Mr. Armstrong seems to believe that his spot on the editorial page does not require any semblance of fairness or balance. His article today was on Measure D, but he managed to save a few paragraphs at the end to define Blum's endorsement of some Council candidates as "low-class", "bad judgement" and "back-stabbing", even though the News-Press has come out supporting some of those same candidates as well.

What the hell has happened to the News-Press? Has the Coastal Commission secretly put something in the water that is pumped into De la Guerra Plaza?
