Thanks Barry Berkus!
Architect Barry Berkus gave $250,000 worth of art the the County of Santa Barbara consisting of 43 works spanning three decades -- including many local artists. To have that kind of art available to the public is fantastic! It's a donation worth much more than the dollar worth of the art.

Yes, this is a very controversial political move, and needs many blog postings here!!!
LOL.
To be more controversial, let's see how he relates to the interests of the community today at the Planning Commission when he will be again pushing his 55 condo project on State Street near 5 points.
Let's see, too, if he has any more consideration for the disabled tenants at the "Plaza Inn" than he has shown so far - and that only because of pushing from the P.C.
A gift of art is one thing, a fine thing, but shoving ego-driven ideas of density and canonization of State Street is another.... Interesting timing!
So let's attack Berkus as if he has anything to do with providing you a home, a job and then donating he is evil. Humm - how's your tent doing these days. And your bike or horse. Grow up you live in a modern world in a building, work in a building, drive a car, buy products that are housed in buildings and Berkus has designed those buildings. He is an patron of the arts, a screeming pro-choice, liberal but because he designs buildings that we use for shelter he is a bad horrible man. Humm - grow up.
if father virgil did something right now someone on this blog would attack him
exactly. "you can't win for losing" as my grandma would have said
if you make money creating homes and give it away you are still greedy
Berkus design skills are not the best but he is an amazing man with a great heart for artist in our community. He should be rewarded for his generousity.
"Rewarded for his generosity"? With what, free passes at the Planning Commission?! No!!!
Definitely, he should be honored - but not rewarded.
Santa Barbara doesn't need any more Galerias and that's what it looks like he wants to create all over Santa Barbara.
